Highland is an AVID Elementary School!
Being an AVID Elementary school means the following for Highland Elementary School students:
- The vision of “college and career bound” begins in kindergarten.
- Teachers will teach and utilize research based strategies that support high levels of student learning
- All Highland students will be expected to demonstrate actions that create a school focused on learning.
- Students will be exposed to community partnership opportunities.
Every Monday is "College Day" at Highland Elementary School. Students, staff, and teachers wear the shirt (or colors) of their future college of choice. If your child does not already own a college shirt, they can be found at area stores (Old Navy, Target, Walmart, K-Mart, etc.) or you can make one with 3, 4, or 5 letters that stand for your child's future school of choice!
